Lanvin sent their fall winter 2011/2012 collection down the Paris Fashion Week runway today and it featured shorter than short hemlines, dark colors, burnt orange, clean lines, hats and the Lanvin handbag collection that the fashion world has grown to love.
Lavin showed clean, smooth handbags on the Paris runway today which were simple and basic; reflecting the overall vibe of the collection. There were two shoulder bags on the runway in a small size and mini size. The shoulder bags featured short shoulder straps which would allow the bag to tuck under the armpit if worn on the shoulder. The strap allows the handbags to be easily worn on the forearm or handheld; as the models did on the runway. The leather was smooth and neutral toned. Lavin gave the shoulder bags flap closures and gold hardware.
There was also a slim, north/south mini tote on the Lanvin runway. The mini-tote was the height and width of a medium sized shoulder bag with a north/south silhouette. The depth of the handbag was less than one inch; not allowing for much storage space. Lanvin featured a short strap on the tote which allows it to be worn on the forearm or handheld.
The feminine flair that has become Lanvin’s signature style was not present on the runway today in Paris. Instead, the collection was more mature and serious. Lanvin’s handbag collection was classic and clean with slight 1970’s inspirations, sans the strap length. The shorter shoulder strap signaled the upcoming trend in Paris, and a little bit in Milan. Shoulder straps may be getting short in the near future.
